Oswaldo Muñiz is a graduate of the School of American Ballet where his talents were highly regarded.  He went on to dance professionally with the rank of principal under Edward Villella in the Eglevsky Ballet, Ballet Oklahoma and Edward Villella and Dancers.  He was also a principal dancer under Patricia Wilde in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, the Richmond Ballet, Ballet Chicago, The Garden State Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and has been a guest artist with many other companies. He danced with the Berlin Opera Ballet at the State Theatre and has toured the world dancing in Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Biarritz and many other places.

He began creating costumes many years ago and has since become a sought after designer.  His work is completely handmade and utilizes the finest fabrics, crystal beads and rhinestones.  He has created costumes for members of the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Theatro Cologne in Buenos Aires, the Pennsylvania Ballet and many other top dancers and companies.  His miniature tutus have been sold by the New York City Ballet Guild at the State Theatre and are widely collected by connoisseurs of fine craft.  Some who have his work in their collection are Martha Stewart and philanthropist Anne Bass.

Mr. Muñiz has received excellent notices in magazines and newspapers including the New York Times which said of his work “when Mr. Muñiz retires, he will never have to worry about another career...”. His work can be seen in magazine print ads, such as Vogue, as well as in television commercials. His designs for American figure skater and gold medal winner Sarah Hughes were featured on ABC television where he was filmed creating and executing the costumes for her.

Mr. Muñiz’s wedding gowns and dresses are designed and executed on commission.  His French/Italian silk wedding gown commissioned for a wedding that took place on 5th Avenue in Manhattan was the center of much praise.  The beautiful removable train with handmade silk rosettes and trimmed with French lace was a masterpiece of execution.  The bodice was studded with tiny seed pearls, the sleeves ruched and trimmed with lace and pearls.  Another gown commissioned in 20’s style with a panier skirt was photographed for Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine.

Mr. Muñiz is available to personally design and crate a gown, dress, blouse or costume exclusively for you.  Men’s shirts are also available.  Prices vary and are dependent on the design and fabrics used.  Please contact us for further information.
